You can check the compatibility of your Android phone by visiting Google Play, searching for the rara app, where the following message will be displayed: 'This app is compatible with your phone'.

How will I play my music if I'm not connected to the internet?

rara automatically stores the music you are playing on your phone’s memory card as you play each track. This is known as “caching”. Any songs that you have played will be cached on your phone, available for you to enjoy even if you are not connected.

To do this:

  • Display the song or songs that you want to download.
  • Press and hold the track name. A menu is displayed.
  • Select either Store song offline to save an individual song offline. Alternatively you can select Store all offline to save each track in the current list.

When a track is played it is automatically stored on your mobile device for offline use. The following three tracks in the queue will also be stored. Tracks that have been stored offline are indicated with a blue play icon.

What does "offline" mean?

Offline means that rara is not connected to the mobile network or a Wi-Fi network. Tracks are stored to your mobile phones memory card (e.g. SD card).

How many tracks can I store offline?

This will depend on how much memory you have on your phone but the files are very small to allow you to have the largest selection of offline music possible.

Can I sign-in on multiple devices at the same time?

Yes you may sign in on more than one device at a time. However, only one of these devices may be used to play music at any one time whilst online.

What is 'On My Phone'?

This is where you can find a list of all tracks that you have downloaded.

How do I search for tracks?

To search for tracks, press the Search icon (looks like a magnifying glass) in the action bar at the top of your screen. When you are online you can search the entire catalogue. When you are offline you can only search the tracks that have been downloaded to your phone.

Why are some menu items greyed-out?

This is because you have no internet connection and these items have not been stored for offline play. You must store tracks when you have an internet connection in order to play them when you are offline.

Can I use rara on my phone when I’m abroad?

Yes you can use rara anywhere that you have an internet connection. If you access the rara app on your mobile when abroad you may incur data charges for roaming a third party mobile network. You may want to consider using a local SIM card with unlimited data, or using a Wi-Fi connection.

How much bandwidth does rara mobile need?

For the best experience use Wi-fi or a 3G internet connection. If you stream music on rara via your mobile network you may incur charges from your mobile carrier. You need to check your data plan with them.

How big is a rara music track?

Each track is approx 1MB in size. We recommend that you use a mobile phone tariff that includes sufficient mobile internet download limits as part of your package.

Can I use my My Playlists and My Favourites on my mobile phone?

Yes - your Playlists and Favourites will be available on the website and all connected devices automatically, this is called cloud syncing.

What exactly is cloud syncing?

Cloud syncing means that all your Playlists and music are accessed from a central point, this is what is referred to as the cloud. Anytime you change anything, that change is reflected wherever you log into your account. No fuss or hassle to keep things organised.

Why do I have to upgrade to use my mobile?

In simple terms, the mobile device is considered a different type of use under the license arrangements we have with record labels. Having tracks available on your phone for you to play even when you are not connected is a great feature and has a different set of terms.

What happens if I change my mobile or have more than one mobile?

If you change your mobile you will need to install the rara app again but you will be able to access all your Playlists as normal. The music cached for offline play on your old mobile will not be transferred to your new phone. Simply playing music on rara on your new mobile device will automatically store tracks on the handset for when you are offline. Your rara account will work offline on a maximum of three mobile devices.
